Dr. Mohsen Taheri-Andani, an assistant professor at Texas A&M University, is co-leading a new Center for Scientific Machine Learning for Material Sciences, funded by a $2.25 million grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The center, a collaboration between Texas Southern University, the University of Michigan, and Prairie View A&M University, aims to utilize machine learning and additive manufacturing techniques to advance materials science. Dr. Andani's team will focus on high-temperature materials research using an open-access 3D printer platform. By integrating machine learning with electron mean processing and scanning electron microscopy, they aim to expedite materials discovery and innovation, with potential applications in energy storage, manufacturing, and healthcare. Through collaboration and interdisciplinary expertise, the center seeks to pioneer advancements in materials science.
