Congratulations Dr. Layton for winning the NSF CAREER Award from the Engineering Design and Systems Engineering (EDSE) program. This award is for her work on bio-inspired systems design. The grant "CAREER: Resilient Engineering Systems Design Via Early-Stage Bio-Inspiration" will use biological systems to advance our ability to do early-stage design of resilient systems, as well as to introduce the general public to engineering design.
